The Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA) have been subject to some confusion regarding textile recycling across the Yorkshire region recently. The charity would like to clarify that they never leave textile bags on doorsteps for collection.
The charity are working to try and raise awareness of their official recycling scheme which runs throughout the region.
Paul Gowland, Director of Fundraising for Yorkshire Air Ambulance commented: “We have been made aware recently that people are becoming confused about the type of recycling the YAA undertakes. We would like to clarify to all of our supporters that the YAA does not operate a doorstep collection service, instead we encourage supporters to donate their unwanted clothing and shoes in their nearest YAA recycling bank found at various locations throughout the region”.
The YAA works very closely with their official recycling partner, Bag It Up Ltd, who coordinate and undertake all of the recycling collections on behalf of the charity. Bag It Up Ltd operate a number of large yellow clothing and shoe banks at various locations across Yorkshire for the YAA.
Your nearest clothing and shoe bank can be located online at www.bagitup.org.uk using their postcode finder or by calling their office on 01422 418618.
Mr Gowland continued: “We would however, like to take this opportunity to thank all of our supporters in the area who have continued to support our life-saving charity and made us aware of the confusion that has been caused.”
All official volunteers and staff of the YAA carry authentic I.D badges which can be easily verified with the charity office.
Anyone who is has any concerns about YAA recycling should contact the charity office on 01422 237900.
