Whitehaven, Cumbria
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was requested to assist in the tragic events that happened yesterday in Whitehaven, alongside our colleagues from other emergency services.
First and foremost, we would like to offer our thoughts and condolences to the families and friends of all those who were involved in the incidents.
Our crew attended several patients and transferred one from West Cumberland Infirmary to Newcastle General Hospital for treatment.
This was a major incident which involved many members of the emergency services and we cooperated fully with our colleagues to assist with the operation.
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance operates two helicopters across the region. During our mission in Whitehaven, our second helicopter was available to respond if any other incidents were to occur in the Yorkshire region at that time
