LBIA
Leeds Bradford International Airport (LBIA), Yorkshire’s Gateway Airport, has pledged its support to local charity, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA) for a further year by discounting their landing fees, something that could cost the charity £30,000 annually.
The airport is currently home to one of the charities two helicopters, G-SASH and has been since the charity’s inception in 2000.
The service that YAA provides has a huge impact on patient’s chances of survival and subsequently on their quality of life.
Tony Hallwood, Commercial & Aviation Director at LBIA said, “LBIA are proud to support local charitable organisations and none more so than the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. The charity has operated on our south side since they were borne. We are proud to have them operate from our airport and have built a strong working relationship with the charity over the years. We look forward to furthering our relationship with them in the future.”
LBIA are one of the charities longest standing principle supporters and have their logo affixed to the YAA helicopter G-SASH to recognise this. They are also a previous winner at the YAA’s Recognition Awards.
Peter Sunderland, Chairman of the YAA also added, “We would like to extend our grateful thanks to LBIA for their continuous support over the years. As an independent charity, we rely solely on individuals and organisations such as LBIA to help us raise our much needed funds. Having the airport discount the landing fee charges is a significant boost to the charity.”
