“Further to guidance from the authorities on Friday (16th) afternoon, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance will continue to be unable to operate our service whilst there is a danger of volcanic ash in the air.
The safety of our crews and pilots flying on the helicopters is paramount and something the YAA takes very seriously.
Our paramedics will continue to be operational, responding to emergencies in Rapid Response Vehicles on the road, and we are working closely with our colleagues at Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
We will continue to consult with the relevant authorities over the weekend and will become operational as soon as we have been given clearance to do so.
Updates will be posted when appropriate.”
