Yorkshire
A spokesperson for The Yorkshire Air Ambulance commented:
“The Yorkshire Air Ambulance are aware of the disruption that the Volcanic Ash from the eruption in Iceland is causing air traffic movements across the UK.
As we also operate two helicopters in the region, we will unfortunately be experiencing disruption to our service today. This is due to Icelandic volcanic airborne dust travelling across northern UK. The nature of the ash in the atmosphere will make it too dangerous for our helicopters to operate.
The safety of our crews and pilots flying on the helicopters is paramount and something the YAA takes very seriously. After consultation from the authorities, a decision has been made to ground the helicopters until we are advised accordingly that it is safe to commence operations once more.
We will be consulting with the authorities throughout the day to keep up to date with any changes to the circumstances.”
