Bramall Construction raises a ‘lotto’ cash for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance

Wednesday 20 January, 2010

South Yorkshire

Kind-hearted staff at Bramall Construction in Yorkshire have kick started the New Year by presenting a generous £6,227 to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA), raised through an in-house lottery scheme.

The South Yorkshire based branch of the housing specialists organised a 200 club draw to pool funds, giving employees the chance to win £200 per month by donating £5 from their pay packets.

Over the past two years, the same amount has also flooded in from Bramall Construction’s North West office in support of the North West Air Ambulance bringing the grand total to £12,454.

Patrons of the YAA, Calendar news reporter Gaynor Barnes and weatherman Jon Mitchell, arrived at the Leeds Bradford home of one of the two Yorkshire Air Ambulances yesterday to pledge their support and help to formally hand over the money.

Jon Mitchell commented “As Patrons of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Gaynor and I are delighted to receive the money donated by Bramall Construction. We have seen first hand the invaluable work that the YAA undertake and know as an independent charity, every penny donated is gratefully received.”

Bramall Construction, which forms part of the Keepmoat group, chose YAA as its designated charity in 2006, and has since presented around £25,000 to help the life-saving crews stay airborne. Money has been raised by staff through numerous fundraising activities including dress down days and a themed Yorkshire Air Ambulance week at their head office.

Laurie Whyman, Chair of Bramall’s Sponsorship Forum said “We are so pleased to be able to present this cash to YAA and its all down to the fantastic support we’ve received from staff. Staff at Bramall have been keen to sign up to the 200 club draw in order to raise some much needed funds for the charity.

“Collectively, Bramall Construction has raised £12,454 which is a very impressive amount and goes a long way to support the service and help save lives.

Abby McClymont, of the YAA, said: “We are extremely grateful for the generous donation made by Bramall Construction and for the company’s continued support.

“Every penny we receive really does count when it comes to saving lives across the region. As an independent charity, we rely solely on donations from individuals, groups and businesses such as Bramall Construction to raise our much needed funds..”
